Hungary Meritorious Service Medal for 20 Years' Service 1966 - 1990

Circular tombak (red bronze) and polychrome enamel medal with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with an imposed central hatched gilt medallion bearing a red enamel ribbon inscribed in gilt letters and figures ‘20 EV’ (20 years), the Kádár-era arms of Hungary in red, white and green enamel above, edged with a stylised green enamel laurel wreath, all within a gilt-edged red enamel ring inscribed ‘A HAZA FEGYVERES SZOLGÁLATÁBAN’ (for Armed Service to the Country); the reverse plain; on original trifold ribbon. The Medal was instituted in 1953 and amended in 1964 and 1966. It was suppressed in 1990 with the fall of the Communist regime. This very good example is of the 1966 to 1990 version. Condition I-II.
