Littérature: RIC 85 var., Bastien 242c (3 egz.)

Note: All military busts from Lugdunum (struck during the 5th emmission) are either scarce, rare or very rare and are always very desirable. Bastien only cites 3 examples of this specific variant.  

This military bust is of a particularly fine style and has a shield decorated with Medusa.

Obverse: VIRTVS PROBI AVG
Reverse: MARS VICTOR = Mars walking right, holding spear and trophy
BUST TYPE: E1 = Radiate, cuirassed and helmeted bust left, holding spear and shield (decorated with Gorgoneion)
